Home or favorite faire ahh I only got to go once, but I'm still kinda partial to the Fresno City College Faire... but then its my college! Unfortunately, it is no more...! Looking for information on any California Faire...
About Me I am an oxymoron. My friends call me Vika the Happy Goth. Apparently someday I will have my own line right next to Emily the Strange. I'm not normally as depressed as I have been much of this year, but I have known my share of grief and tend to take my friends' pain into myself as well... I'm an artist, an INFJ and a "Counselor" so I guess that's a side-effect of that... Eh, I'm a "strange", complicated soul, and I tend to be attracted to others like me- the very artsy sorts, the gothy sorts, theatre people, Faire folk, people with interest in the paranormal, etc... but I have yet to feel like I really fit in anywhere... "Too saintly for the rebels, too rebellious for the saints"- that's what I say I am. I'm part of two extremes that most people think don't mesh, but somehow I make it work... See, I am darkness and I am light, but unless you live in that paradox, chances are you don't understand that at all... I'm trying to work past all the misconceptions people have about me, my race, my religion, the subculture I have chosen to belong to, my career choices, etc. Sometimes you just gotta go with what you love no matter how little "sense" it makes to everyone else. I'm not perfect and will never pretend I am. I'm learning just like everyone else. We all have a piece to the puzzle... if we can ever get over ourselves, someday we'll be able to see the whole picture. As for the picture of my life, this is who I am today... Musician. Writer. Theatrical. Christian. Goth. Passionate. Determined. Creative.
Music Symphonic rock mostly: Trans-Siberian Orchestra (You have not lived until you have experienced TSO live!!!!), Evanescence, Skillet... Celtic rock like Tempest and electronic rock like The Echoing Green, alternative rock... really my tastes are about as diverse as my personality. I like a lot of stuff, but I gotta admit in general that I don't know the new and current stuff because I haven't had the time with everything else I got going on... but still I need the exposure so feel free to toss me recommendations and I will listen as get the chance! Oh I should probably also add that I love Romanian pop and anything else that brings back sweet memories of my times overseas...
Movies tons from most every genre... comic book, action, fantasy, drama, chick-flicks, musicals... The Princess Bride tops them all...
TV ach, all the best shows get canceled... like Tru Calling and Moonlight... at least NCIS is still around- for now- dunno what I would do without Abby Scuito! hehe And I can watch through season 2 of Kyle: XY online... Huzzah!
Books Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, Francine Rivers, Dee Henderson, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien... I gotta expand my interests LOL...

Dislikes people who pretend to know all the answers, intolerance, getting interrupted when I speak, pink, liars, people who don't know how to commit to anything, ultimatums, hypocrisy, people who don't know how to be themselves, pushovers
Hobbies music & writing... playwrighting, songwriting, poetry, playing bass guitar, learning about swordplay (and soon I hope to do well in) archery... theatre... creating!!! learning!!! reading...

I know which weekend of the Northern Faire I will be trying for! I had originally been thinking the last since that is my anniversary, but as a theatre techie... well there's a show that weekend (The Importance of Being Earnest, not my favorite, but I will likely have to be there anyway!)... I'd love to hit every weekend, really, but... well, let's just say, I can't see myself knowingly passing up my beloved Tempest!

Hmm... so mainly I guess I'm on here because I'm interested in learning more on the faires of California. I haven't exactly ventured outside of Fresno- yet.
My next event is the Fresno Highland Games

and I'm hoping to also attend Casa de Fruta and Kearney this year (Kearney being most likely)... I can at least dream! I have been anxious for a faire for some time now...

    So...
    What are your recommendations?
What is your favorite faire and why?

Haha and if I don't message a lot, please take it as a good thing... as you can see by my profile, I rather have the tendency to ramble!
